MAC stands for Media Access Control and a MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller and is used on an IP Ethernet communications network to identify the device. Each remote reboot power switch has its own MAC address and this is used to register it on a portal or network for remote communications and power switching.
IP Power Switches
An IP power switch provides a way to remotely control, monitor or reboot electrical and electronic devices connected to the outlets of the switch. The most commonly used outlet on an Ethernet remote power switch is an IEC320 C13. IEC C13 to C14 power cords are used to connect the outlet sockets to the load and the power switch itself plugs into the local mains power supply using a mains power cable.

A remote IP switch, webswitch or web-switch is a device that can be used to control the electrical power supply to connected loads. Loads can include audio visual systems, signage, lighting, digital displays, computers and servers, IT networking devices, home cinema speakers, home cinema projectors, electric projector screens, video conferencing USB connected display screens and other electrical devices in a home or remote office or hard to reach environment.
