The AKCP 4-in-1 Environment Sensor combines measurements for temperature, humidity, static air pressure and air quality index in one compact sensor unit. Ideal for use in office spaces and industrial areas, as well as server rooms and data centres, the sensor allows you to monitor all the critical components of air quality within the operation space.
The AKCP 4-in-1sensor can be used to calculate an Air Quality Index which, a score for air quality, which focuses on the measurement of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Volatile Sulphur Compounds (VSCs). These gases are produced by various processes, exhaust gases, and off-gassing of chemicals and plastics. The measured data can be graphed over time to monitor increasing and decreasing air quality with alerts created for when the air quality index is too high, prompting, for example, the opening of windows or doors to allow fresh air into the space. The sensor is easy to install and via an AKCP sensorProbe+ can integrate with a building management system (BMS) to provide information via protocols including BACnet, log data for graphical analysis, with pre-set levels leading to automated alerts via email, SMS text, phone calls or a protocol such as SNMP.
AKCP 4-in-1 Air Quality Sensor Features
- Key Measurements: temperature, humidity, static air pressure and air pollution
- Static Pressure: monitor air pressure, combine two sensors to calculate Delta P
- Network Monitoring: real time monitoring over a LAN or the internet via an AKCP sensorProbe+ unit
- Integration Option: with a local BMS via BACnet
- Compact Design: small footprint
Air Pollution Levels
The AQX4 provides a real-time ‘pollution level’ percentage based on gas resistance:
- Clean Air (0%): Gas Resistance ≥50 kΩ
- Normal to Warning (0–65%): 50 kΩ>Resistance>18 kΩ
- Critical to Max (85–100%): 5 kΩ≥Resistance>1.5 kΩ
Precision Measurements
- Temperature: Range of −40∘C to +85∘C with +/- 0.5∘C accuracy (at 25∘C)
- Air Pressure: Range of 300 to 1100 hPa with +/- 0.05 hPa relative accuracy
- Humidity: 0 to 100% RH with ±3% typical accuracy
Monitoring indoor air quality is important for the health of people, systems and machines. This 4-in-1 environmental sensor monitors temperature, humidity, air pollution index, and static air pressure. The sensor helps you ensure that temperatures are within acceptable boundaries with customised thresholds. In a data centre you can check your server inlet temperatures and in the workplace, ensure OSHA compliance.
Static air pressure measurements in a data centre envjronment can be used to control fan speeds and ensure correct air supply volumes. Balancing pressures reduces stress on IT servers, reduces maintenance costs, and fan energy consumption. By subtracting measurements of two static air pressure sensors, a differential pressure is calculated (Delta P). This can be used to check pressure differences before and after transition points. Large pressure differences can signal issues such as blocked air filters.
The air pollution index tracks multiple pollutants, including CO2, NOx, and VOCs, and produces an air quality score. Monitoring this over time to ensure the air quality score is stable or decreasing. An increasing score signifies decreasing air quality.
