The AIRSYS LiquidRack is a liquid cooling solution (25-150kW racks) designed for multiple types of digital infrastructures including data centre server racks. The system uses liquid spray technology to spray the CPUs directly which greatly improves the heat transfer coefficient and reduces the amount of dielectric fluid required, compared to traditional immersion cooling methods. With the ability to operate at higher liquid temperatures, without compromising CPU performance, LiquidRack can eliminate the need for mechanical cooling, providing a free-cooling solution throughout the year.

LiquidRack spray cooling is a unique liquid cooling technology for use in data cnetres. It increases the maxmimum coolant temperature to 70°C, which eliminates the need for mechanical cooling and delivers an energy-efficient Data Centre PUE of less than 1.03.

How LiquidRack Cools Servers

LiquidRackconsists of two slide-out drawers with up to 7×2U servers per drawer, each with its own heat exchanger and pump arrangement. The is divided into two circuits: a liquid coolant circuit and a water circuit. The coolant (dielectric fluid) is sprayed onto the servers, removing the heat. The heated coolant then flows back to the plate heat exchanger and dissipates the heat into the water circuit. The heat is the finally discharged into the atmosphere through the dry cooler. Adopting liquid spray technology, 100% free-cooling can be achieved anytime, anywhere.

LiquidRack Features

  • High Cooling Density: LquidRack is compact with 2 drawers. Each can supports upto 7x 2U servers and the cooling capacity of a single LiquidRack can reach 150kW, with a cooling density of up to 120kW/m²
  • Push-pull Drawer: the drawers fit various different servers and a standard rack has 2x drawers, which can be customised
  • High Reliability: the servers operate in a enclosed space with precise temperature control, preventing humidity, dust and vibrations
  • Sliding Rollers: sliding drawers make sure that the servers are easily accessible for routine maintenance.
  • Inclined Severs with Sliding Lock: the inclined server position and locking system makes maintenance easy to perform, without extra tools or the hassle of liquid droplets
  • Dripless Quick Connector: high quakity dripless quick connectors
  • Integrated Pumps and Heat Exchangeer: LiquidRack has two pumps (N+1 resilience) with a highly-efficient heat exchanger integrated into each spray system
  • Less Coolant: the total amount of liquid is only about 10% of that of an immersion system

Spray Cooling v Immersion Cooling

Spar cooling has a heat transfer efficiecny of 200% but for liquid cooling this is only 100%. The maximum temperature is 70degC compared to 50degC for immersion cooling, with a maximum outlet water temperature of 65degC compared to 45degC for immersion cooling. Coolant volume is 10% compared to 100% and energy consumption is also around 30% less.
