The WLD-Location cable L is a water leakage detection rope with location properties and can identify the distance to the point where water, glycol or any other conduction liquid is detected.
The WLD-Location cable L comes with a 10m water detection cable and 5m non-sensing cable which connects directly to the Perseus monitoring unit. This allows the full length of the sensing cable to be installed where it is needed, under a raised access floor, within a ceiling void or whereever water detection monitoring is required. The maximum length of an installed WLD-L cable is 100m and this is achieved using extension cables.
Key Features
- Identifies leak detection using zones
- Detects even the smallest volume of liquid – water, ethylene glycol and other conductive liquids
- Detection cables can be connected and lengthened to up to 10m
- Soaked detection cable can be dried and reused
Applications
- Data centres and Server rooms: detecting water leaks beneath raised floors, above suspended ceilings, and along service routes
- Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) System Leaks: locating water and conductive coolant leaks around coolant distribution units (CDUs), direct-to-chip systems, manifolds, and liquid-cooling distribution lines
- Glycol Cooling Circuits: detecting leaks involving water mixtures with propylene glycol or ethylene glycol used in HVAC and industrial cooling
- Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Leaks: monitoring leaks from air-conditioning units, chillers, fan-coil units, and condensate drain pipes
- Piping Routes: install a location sensing cable installed along piping not only detects a leak but also identifies its position along the cable route
- Plant Rooms and Boiler Rooms: detecting leaks from boilers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and water tanks
- Commercial and Office Buildings: protecting of rooms, floors, and technical areas using a location cable installed along walls, floors, or critical routes
- Hotels: monitoring bathrooms, corridors, and service areas where even a small water leak can cause damage across multiple floors
- Hospitals and Laboratories: locating water leaks in areas containing sensitive technology, laboratory equipment, or critical infrastructure
- Warehouses, Archives, and Storage Facilities providing early detection and location of water ingress before goods, documents, or stored materials are damaged
- Basements and Service Floors: detecting flooding, seepage, and groundwater ingress along long monitored routes
- Industrial Facilities: monitoring pipelines, tanks, process lines, and production equipment while identifying the location of a liquid leak
WLD Port
Connection to a Perseus device is made using the green 4-pin ‘WLD-L’ port on a Perseus Industrial 310 or Perseus Industrial 315. A special feature of the WLD-L port used to locate flooding is that it can also operate as two independent 2-pin WLD ports after the device configuration is changed.
Locating the Flood or Leakage Detecton Point
Locating the liquid along the entire length of the location cable takes 15 to 30 seconds.
- Point 0 is the start of the yellow cable (the white 4-pin connector of the 5m WLD Type L connecting cable)
- The flooding point is detected with an accuracy of ±4% (±0.4m/10 m)
- The yellow WLD Type L cable must be immersed in at least 3mm of liquid; for fully reliable detection, at least 15mm of the cable must be in contact with the liquid
- When mechanically installing the yellow WLD Type L cable, observe the minimum bend radius of 25mm
- WLD cables can be attached to the floor using “WLD-Poro Tape 5m” adhesive tape
Tape and Cover Strips
The following tape and cover strips are available:
- WLD Poro Tape 5m white single-sided adhesive tape with holes, used to attach the WLD sensing cable to the floor or wall. The holes allow water to reach the sensing cable.
- WLD Cover Strip A-35 5m self-adhesive grey strip 35mm, for protection of the WLD sensing cable Type A on floors, stairs and similar surfaces.
- WLD Cover Strip B-30 5m self-adhesive grey strip 30mm, for protection of the WLD sensing cable Type B on floors, stairs and similar surfaces.
