What is BACnet?

BACnet stands for Building Automation and Control network and is a communication protocol used in building automation systems that allows information to be shared between BACnet enabled devices, regardless of their manufacture or brand. BACnet allows different systems including environmental monitors, access control, fire alarm panels, HVAC, energy management and lighting solutions to connect with building management systems (BMS) for the purpose building automation, control and monitoring.

BACnet Protocol Support for AKCP sensoProbe+ Devices

BACnet/IP protocol support for AKCP sensorProbe allows seamless integration with Building Management Systems (BMS). The BACnet integration allows for the communication of data gather by the sensorProbe+ connected sensors, including temperature, humidity, differential pressure, air quality and power parameters to be integrated directly into BACnet-compliant systems. This eliminates the need for third-party gateways or middleware, simplifying deployment and cutting integration costs.

Key Benefits of BACnet/IP Enabled SensorProbe+ Devices

  • Native BACnet/IP Support: Seamless integration into BACnet-enabled building automation systems.
  • Enhanced Visibility: Share mission-critical environmental data with BMS, improving operational visibility.
  • Cost and Complexity Reduction: No additional hardware or protocol translators required.
  • Future-Ready Architecture: Lays the groundwork for future enhancements and greater scalability.

For AKCP sensorProbe+ devices, the BACnet feature is a software license and can be ordered using the SKU: BAC. Customers can download the firmware and view release documentation through the AKCP support portal.
