FAQs - Data Centre Services
Frequently asked questions on the data centre services we provide including cabling, cleaning, facilities maintenance, relocations, recycling and smart hands.
Our smart hands technicians work alongside your on-site staff, either proactively monitoring equipment or responding to tickets as issues are reported. Typical tasks include receiving and racking equipment, power cycling and reboots, moving kit between racks, operating system and server installations, backup setup, cross-connects, and inventory and asset audits.
Every move starts with a server audit, asset tagging, a relocation plan, risk assessments and method statements. Our fully insured team transports equipment in specialist carrier cases, with secure warehousing between sites if needed, and we follow a strict relocation checklist to get systems back online as quickly as possible. We handle projects from fewer than 10 servers up to 1,000 or more.
We design and install structured cabling for server rooms, comms rooms, and data centres, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat7 copper, fibre-optic backbones, and coax. We fully document and label installations, and we also carry out patch and trace audits, cable tidies, and recycling of redundant cabling on existing sites.
IT equipment relies on fans that draw room air over hot components, and any dust in that air builds up inside servers, behind racks, under raised floors, in ceiling voids, in room corners, and in air conditioning units. Over time, this causes overheating and hot spots, fan damage, corrosion and static, and can even become a fire risk. A specialist server room deep clean removes it safely without disrupting live equipment. We complete cleaning to the ISO 14644-1 Class 8 standard.
We provide a complete disposal and recycling service that complies with the WEEE and RoHS regulations. Working with specialist recycling partners, we recover as much as possible for reuse and dispose of the rest legally and sustainably. This covers servers, racks, cabling, UPS batteries and air conditioning systems.
