What is data center monitoring?

There are many metrics or parameters to monitor in a data center environment to ensure availability and uptime of critical infrastructure systems. These include data on temperature, humidity and water leakage in particular which must be monitored across multiple data collection points and reported to a centralised monitoring platform such as a data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) package and alerts sent automatically when parameters are recorded outside pre-set acceptable ranges.
